Maximo Nivel’s Adventure & Culture program are by definition more self-determined than not. We offer a variety of options to explore, travel, and learn and each program and destination is quite different. It’s important to be in good physical condition, stay flexible and always maintain your sense of humor. Remember, the pace of life is very different in Latin America. Patience goes a long way, and anger gets you nowhere. Be ready for anything and open to everything!

Please note that divers must wait 24 hours after their last dive before boarding a plane to avoid decompression sickness. Your scuba program includes extra housing to accommodate this.

DIVE IN COSTA RICA

Manuel Antonio is located on the pacific coast of Costa Rica and is home to the best beaches in the country. The pristine, white sand beaches of the national park lead to a bustling tropical marine oasis just below the ocean surface. Down below, divers view volcanic rock formations, sea turtles, white tip and reef sharks, octopuses, stingrays, lobsters, and an infinite variety of tropical fish.

DIVE IN GUATEMALA

Santa Cruz rests on the edge of Lake Atitlan, only a 15-minute boat ride from Panajachel. An un-traditional destination for PADI Open Water Diving certification, Lake Atitlan offers a unique high-altitude dive experience into the volcanic crater of Lake Atitlan. Divers touch hot mud along the lake’s volcanic fault lines; view the underwater volcanic rock formations, walls, and swim-throughs; and visit the lake’s local inhabitants including freshwater fish, crabs, and a variety plant life.

DIVE IN PERU

Mancora is located on the northern pacific coast of Peru. Here the Niño and Humboldt currents merge, providing for abundant marine life below the waters. These waters are home to over 2,700 marine species including a wide variety of fish, mollusks and crustaceans, and marine mammals. During dives off the coast, you can expect to meet green sea turtles, porcupine fish, angel fish, emperor fish, stingrays, moray eels, octopuses, sea horses, and more.
