150-Hour 4-Week TEFL Course Abroad

TEFL certification is your ticket to travel and teach as a professional English instructor anywhere in the world. Be the best teacher you can be! Maximo Nivel’s 4-week, 150-hour TEFL Certification Program is a thorough and practical introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). It is fun, intense, and pushes aspiring teachers to hone their classroom skills.

During the 4-week course, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop real-world skills to be an effective English teacher. The TEFL program focuses on practical teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.

Maximo Nivel’s TEFL Trainers take an eclectic approach including in-class lectures, group work, presentations, individual projects, and teaching practice. You are challenged to think creatively and analytically. We strongly encourage you to strive and get the most out of the course—the more you put into your TEFL training, the more you get out it.

Practical Teaching

In the final week of the course, TEFL participants take over a live English class with real, non-native students and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days; during these lessons you are observed and critiqued by your TEFL Trainer. The practical teaching module also includes 3 additional mini-lessons (20 minutes each), where you’re observed by your TEFL Trainer and receive feedback. The TEFL course also includes 6 hours observing experienced ESL teachers leading their classes.
