Maximo Nivel’s Summer Spanish Camp Program is just like regular Summer Camp, but 1000x better. Think sports, adventure, exploration, friends, and new experiences in one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world. Unlike your basic Summer Camp, our Spanish Camp in Costa Rica ensures that teens get an unforgettable experience that combines education, activity, and culture in a supervised environment.

Summer Camp Costa Rica

Costa Rica has seen steady economic expansion over the past 25 years, helping to improve the country’s political stability, resulting in one of the lowest poverty rates in the region, and making it the safest country in Central America. The country’s social reform also surpasses that of its neighbors with Costa Rica being one of the most inclusive populations of various subcultures. And it goes without saying that Costa Rica is a global leader in environmental policies–so much so that it’s the only tropical country which has successfully reversed deforestation.

Costa Rica is the perfect choice for teens to spend their summer vacation as the environment provides tremendous learning opportunities–think biology, biodiversity, landscape, geography, and of course, language–as well as endless opportunities for fun, sun, and excitement.

What are the options?

Well, we’re glad you asked. We understand all too well the variety of interests, and boundless energy teens can have, and they certainly aren’t created equal. That’s why we decided on three very different options to best suit your teens’ very distinct personality and goals. Teens can choose from the traditional Summer camp filled with cultural immersion, a sports track for the natural athletes, or a service learning track for the healers of the world.

Spanish Summer Camp

Traditional Spanish Camp

During our traditional Spanish Camp, teens spend 3 hours per day focusing on developing their Spanish language skills with a native Spanish teacher who is committed to fostering an engaging learning environment. The remainder of their day is spent doing a variety of exciting activities including city tours, learning to dance salsa, cooking lessons, beach trips & surfing, movie nights, go karting, museum tours, BBQ’s, and spending time with their host family.

Sports Track

In addition to 3 hours of daily Spanish lessons and all the daily exciting activities included in our Spanish Camp, students in the Sports Track can choose between soccer or scuba and spend an additional 3-4 hours mastering their chosen activity. Those who choose the scuba receive an official Scuba Certification upon completion of their course and those who prefer soccer will get to learn new tricks and practice their skills with our certified coach during their adventure in Costa Rica.

Soccer Camp

Service Learning Track

With opportunities to volunteer working with kids or in construction, the service learning track teaches teens the importance of gratitude, servitude, and humility. Teens still take part in the 3-hour Spanish lessons, followed by 3-4 hours of service learning that can range from renovating classrooms for locals to spending quality time with less fortunate kids, all under the supervision of their chaperone. Evenings are spent having bonfires, watching fireworks, visiting top attractions, dancing salsa, and more.

Maximo takes care of all of the details for you. Once your child exits the airport, you can be sure our driver will be waiting to meet them with our signature Smiley Face Flag, so they’re easily recognizable. From then on, teens are chaperoned 24/7 to ensure their safety, and your peace of mind. Also included are host family accommodations with only our highest quality and 100% verified, middle-income families. All homes provide electricity, hot and cold water, WI-FI, and comfortable sleeping arrangements only shared with same-gendered children.

Summer Camp Manuel Antonio Costa Rica

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is always provided either by the host family, at the institute, or at a restaurant, in addition to all activities and tours, transportation, official certificates, Spanish Camp T-Shirts, Spanish lessons, and books and materials.

Depending on the track and schedule, campers may spend all of their time at our institute in bustling San Jose, or at our beach institute in the famous Manuel Antonio National Park.
