WORK STUDY TRAVEL IN COSTA RICA, GUATEMALA, PERU

The Country Jumper Gap Year program takes you from Costa Rica to Guatemala to Peru. Your entire experience is built around exploring and learning in these beautiful countries. You can earn academic credit while doing it too! All 3 countries are Spanish-speaking, but their cultures, climates, and geographies are completely unique. Costa Rica is warm and tropical, Guatemala is cool, fresh, and historical, Peru is adventurous and challenging.

Maximo Nivel’s Country Jumper program can be completed in 12-week, 24-week, and 36-week itineraries, with 4 to 12 weeks each in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru. If you prefer, academic credit that transfers to the university of your choice is available, and there is lots of flexibility to personalize your program.

Maximo Nivel’s Country Jumper Gap Year is a unique program that leads students and travelers through a cultural and academic immersion experience in 3 of the most amazing countries in Latin America. This distinctive, program is available year-round.

The program begins in Costa Rica, continues on to Guatemala, and finishes in Peru. Participants work, study, and travel for 4 to 12 weeks in each country, where you complete field work via service learning or international internship placements and also study the Spanish language. Students can also complete university content courses in Business, Public Health, Sociology, and Sustainability; and motivated students can earn 15 to 21 academic credits during their program. You can also organize treks and tours or join optional Adventure & Culture programs offered by Maximo Nivel.

The Country Jumper Gap Year program is all-inclusive with housing and meals included. Maximo Nivel oversees every aspect of your gap year experience. Our team of multilingual program advisors and field managers include international and local professionals—we come from a wide variety of backgrounds including education, business, international relations, and science. As experts on Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Peru, the Maximo Nivel team is here to help you every step of the way, and students receive 24/7 support throughout your time abroad.

– Background check is required for all gap year participants working with children

Daily Schedule
– 2-4 hours/day Spanish classes
– 3-4 hours/day of community service
– Community service hours are morning or afternoon depending on project
– Community service projects may be walking distance or require public transportation

Gap year programs combine travel, Spanish, community service, and skill building courses. You have weekends free, and a 2-week break to organize extra treks, tours, and beach time. All gap year participants receive the following services as part of the program:

– Airport pick-up
– Safety orientation and walking tour
– Host family accommodations (private room)
– Breakfast and dinner, 7 days/week
– 3 to 4 hours/day community service
– 2 hours/day Spanish language classes
– Other certification courses depending on program
– Official program certificates
– Tandem Conversation Program

*Community Service and Spanish language programs run simultaneously in each country. You spend 8 weeks total in each country, and 24 weeks total.
