Education Internship in Peru

Peru has made significant improvements to their education system since the 1990s. In recent decades, spending on education has quadrupled and government reforms have extended free education to all students between the ages of 5 and 16. Today, Peru’s adult literacy rate is 90%, compared to just 40% in 1940. However, Peru’s education system still struggles as the country works to advance its educational services to the most rural, hard-to-reach areas of the country. This means that a thriving, private education sector has developed to fill the public shortfall and is an important component in the education of Peru’s people.

Interns are usually placed in private bilingual schools, often following International Baccalaureate (“IB”) curriculums. The classes you assist with are taught in English and you directly report to a designated faculty member at your school. Interns are able to actively apply their studies to assist students and teachers alike, as you develop the skills necessary to effectively advance student progress. Our Internship programs provide practical training in teacher presence and presentation, creative lesson planning, and classroom management.
