With a well established education system and an emphasis on peace and environmentalism, Costa Rica offers a certain level of both academic seriousness and tranquility and safety. It is an especially good destination for students who are studying Business, Education, Environmental Studies, Hospitality & Tourism, among many others.

SAN JOSE
Our campus is located in the university district of San Pedro, just 2 blocks from the University of Costa Rica. The campus offers both indoor and outdoor study areas, WiFi, onsite snack bar, and other amenities. The neighborhood offers a great student vibe and is surrounded by restaurants, gyms, shopping, and nightlife. From the institute, it is only a short 10-minute bus ride to downtown San Jose.

MANUEL ANTONIO
Our campus in Manuel Antonio – Quepos is in an open-air, 2-story building in the heart of town. The campus is just a half-block from the vibrant Quepos Boardwalk (‘Malecón’), artisans’ market, and a short 7-minute walk from the beautiful and bustling marina. The area is very walkable with lots of restaurants and coffee shops. You study surrounded by the local culture and all the excitement of a Central American beach town.

Maximo Nivel takes the academic success of our students very seriously. We evaluate each student’s motivation for the program and their academic history. This helps to ensure a productive and successful cohort experience for everyone in Costa Rica.

– At least 18 years of age
– Currently enrolled in an Associates or Bachelor’s degree program
– Academically prepared for university level work
– Proficient in the English language
– Positive mindset; ready to live and study internationally
– Minimum GPA 2.50

University Spanish Courses in Costa Rica

UNIVERSITY SPANISH COURSES

Maximo Nivel has a variety of university courses to meet students’ Spanish learning objectives. 100 to 400 level courses are available in small group classes and 1-on-1 private classes. Medical Spanish, Spanish for Business, remedial tutoring, and other Spanish programs for specific purposes are offered on as needed basis.

All courses are led by certified native Spanish-speaking teachers. Through a structured curriculum that emphasizes speaking, you naturally acquire the language as you are pushed to learn through practice.

SERVICE LEARNING

Costa Rica is known for having progressive environmental and social policies, and Costa Rica is widely considered one of the planet’s most sustainable countries. It is also a safe country—so peaceful a nation, the government disbanded the Army way back in 1948.

At the same time, Costa Rica is still a developing country with a low national income and a number of socio-economic issues. This means Costa Rica offers a wide variety of ways to get involved in service learning projects.  There is a lot to do in a country like Costa Rica and international students are needed and welcomed!
